Question #9

Question: What three personal qualities do you possess that a councilman should have?

Answer: I believe the following three qualities apply to my service on the council as it does at my employment as a systems architect.

  • Straight talk - I have no agenda to hide and I speak the truth as I know it. I simply don't tolerate saying one thing and then doing another just to appease someone. However, I do reserve the right to change my opinion based on new information or enlightenment.
  • Listen to others - If someone's mouth is engaged their ears aren't. I can always do better but I try to listen more than I talk. I look forward to hearing what the residents have to say on the issues.
  • Common sense - When it's all said and done I believe common sense plays a big part of doing the right thing. I believe this is one of my strongest qualities. Common sense does not give license to violate policies or laws but it certainly is a catalyst for changing policies and laws.
