Question #4

Question: When a resident is complaining about the growth of the city, do you have an understanding of the legalities behind development within the city?

Answer: I don't claim to know everything about city development code/laws and I'm not sure it's required given the fact that we have a city planner, city engineer, and a city planning commission, and access to legal council. I would leverage these resources to the extent needed.

I will say that some don't like the development that we are seeing at this time but I learned one thing long ago. If you want to control the development in the city you have one option... buy the land. It's not good enough to just say no to development because the developers will go to Salem or Payson for annexation and they will get it. I think it's better for us to have some control over the development rather than another city.
